Day 1 :

Travel to Dover for a short sea crossing to Calais before continuing on to the hotel in Utrecht.

Day 2 :

This morning we enjoy a short drive to Gouda, here in Gouda we visit the Gouda Cheese Experience, this self-guided tour takes us through the process of making this Dutch classic. This afternoon we head to Woerden, the city has a long and rich history in cheese making and trading; for years Gouda cheese for domestic and international use has been produced in this region. Woerden still holds its authentic cheese market at the market in its center, as well as one a traditional flour mill.

Day 3 :

This morning we head into Utrecht, we firstly enjoy a journey on the city canals, this 1-hour cruise sails around the city, the rest of the day is free to spend in Utrecht, explore the delightful shopping areas, explore the stunning St Martin's Cathedral, or head to the top of the Dom Tower and witness some stunning views over the city. But if you would like to take in some history then the Paleis Lofen is the place to go, here you discover the history of the German Emperors from the Roman Invasions. (Entry can be arranged)

Day 4 :

This morning we have some free time before we head to the stunning Castle De Haar, The medieval House De Haar dates from the 13th century. It fell into disrepair in the 18th and 19th centuries. Architect Pierre Cuypers (famous for his designs of the Rijksmuseum and the Central Station in Amsterdam) restored and rebuilt De Haar for baron Etienne van Zuylen van Nijevelt van de Haar. The rebuilding took from 1892 till 1912 and was a project unique of its kind in all of Europe. In the last century, the castle also frequently hosted members of the international jet-set with their lavish lifestyle; from Coco Chanel to Roger Moore, they too left their mark on the sumptuous rooms of the most opulent spot in Utrecht. This afternoon we head back to the hotel.

Day 5 :

After Breakfast we depart for our ferry crossing and continue home.
